What is a Cookie?

The website uses what are called “cookies.” A cookie is a piece of information consisting of letters and numbers that our website sends to your browser to save certain settings, facilitate the use of our website, and help us collect relevant statistical information about our visitors. The data stored in cookies is necessary to facilitate navigation and is stored in such a way that unauthorized persons cannot access it.

Most cookies do not contain personal information and cannot be used to identify users. Cookies often contain a unique identifier – a randomly generated secret number stored on your device. Some cookies are deleted after closing the website, while others are stored on your computer for a longer period.

Websites operating in EU countries must ask for users’ consent to use cookies and store them on the user’s computer or other device.

Data Processing:

  • Purpose of Data Processing: To ensure the proper functioning of the website and enhance the user experience.

  • Categories of Data Subjects: All visitors to the website.

  • Legal Basis for Data Processing: The legal basis for the session cookie is Article 6, section (1), point f) of the GDPR, as well as Article 13/A, section (3) of Act CVIII of 2001 on certain issues related to electronic commercial services and information society services. For all other cookies, it is based on your consent under Article 6, section (1), point a) of the GDPR.

  • Categories of Personal Data Processed: As per recital 30 of the GDPR, individuals can be associated with online identifiers provided by their devices, applications, tools, and protocols, such as internet protocol addresses, cookie identifiers, or other identifiers such as RFID tags. This may leave traces that, particularly when combined with unique identifiers and other information received by servers, can be used to create profiles of individuals and identify them. The data processed by cookies can include: the websites you have visited, ads you have clicked on, the type of browser you are using, your IP address, and the information you provided for the website.

  • Categories of Recipients: The data controller, in the case of web analytics services, external service providers (e.g., Google).

  • Data Retention Period: Depending on the type of cookie identifier, for the duration necessary for use. The data retention period for web analytics services provided by external service providers is governed by the data processing information of the concerned service provider.

Types of Cookies Based on Their Expiration:

  • Session Cookies: These cookies are activated temporarily during the browsing session, i.e., from the moment the user opens the browser window until it is closed. As soon as the browser is closed, all session cookies are deleted.

  • Persistent Cookies: These cookies remain on the user’s device for the duration specified in the cookie. They are activated every time the user visits the website.

Types of Cookies Based on Their Purpose:

  • Strictly Necessary Session Cookies for Operation: These cookies are essential for the use of the website and allow the basic functions of the website to be used. Without these cookies, many website functions would not be available.

  • Functional Cookies: These cookies improve the user experience. They store, for example, the device with which you opened the website or the data you have previously provided and requested to be stored: e.g., auto-login, changes made by the user to the chosen language, text size, font, or other customizable elements of the website. These cookies do not track your activities on other websites. However, the information they collect may include personally identifiable information that you have shared.

  • Analytical or Performance Monitoring Cookies: These help us distinguish between visitors and collect data on user behavior on the website. These cookies ensure, for example, that the website remembers your login if requested. They do not collect information that can identify you; the data is aggregated and stored anonymously (e.g., Google Analytics).

Cookie Management and Deletion

Cookies are stored on the user’s computer and transmitted from there to the website. Therefore, the use of cookies is entirely under your control as the user; you can object to their use at any time as follows.

Cookies can be deleted or disabled in the browsers used. By default, browsers allow the installation of cookies. This function can be disabled in the browser settings, and existing cookies can be deleted. Additionally, the browser can be set to alert the user whenever a cookie is sent to the device.

However, it is important to note that blocking or restricting these files may impair navigation and may also cause errors in website functionality. Also, we draw your attention to the fact that when using an ad blocker, cookie declaration information may not always display.

Regarding your personal data, you can request at any time, without limitation:

  • Information on the details of data processing, including a request for a copy.

Additionally, you can exercise your right to data portability.

In the case of data processing based on consent, you have the option to withdraw your consent at any time without restriction. Withdrawal does not affect the legality of the previous processing.
